Stress,Tyes, Dimensions And Types

Stress

Stress is defined as force acting per unit area. When a stress is applied on a body, it causes several changes in the object's geometry. Stress may be of different types depending upon its affects.

Dimensions And Units

Unit is stress is Pascal (System International, SI) which N/m*m.

stress(P) = Force(N)/Area(m^2)

Dimensions of Pressure is given by:

[P]=[M][L]-1[T]-2

 Types Of Stress

1- Shear Stress

Whenever stress produces change in shape of object; it is shear stress

2- Linear Stress

When ever stress produces change in lenght; it is linear stress

Different scientists explained stress in their own words. For instance, Bernoulli's explanation is significant
